Haiti: Post-earthquake rehabilitation to meet targeted educational needs in the southwest.

Project summary

This sub-project to "construct 1,000 linear meters of concrete strips (Ravine Rose-Caporal axis from Carrefour la Judée to Mare-Rouge)“ is part of a collaboration between AHAAMES and HELVETAS via the project ”Support for the Implementation of the Management Plan for Unit 2 of the Pines Forest National Park," funded by the SDC and implemented by HELVETAS-ANAP/MdE. 
AHAAMES has been commissioned for the period from April 27 to September 27, 2020, to carry out the construction of 1,000 ml of road, which should contribute to the promotion of ecotourism in this protected area. 

PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS: RESULTS, INDICATORS, AND ACTIVITIES

- Improve access to the road leading to Mare-Rouge, a locality in Unit II of the pine forest, by installing infrastructure such as concrete strips 1 meter wide and 20 cm thick, 40 cm shoulders, 3-meter solid concrete slabs, and possibly gutters;
- Make technical proposals including, in addition to the concrete strips and solid concrete structures already proposed in the mandate, other types of infrastructure such as rock paving, taking into account the reality on the ground and the means available. 


As part of this sub-project, AHAAMES' mission was to undertake the main activities described below. This involved road construction work organized into four sections.

Andréus section
Construction of 60 ml of hydraulic concrete strips in ramp areas; Construction of 210 ml of rock masonry strips in flat[1] and/or gentle slope areas; 
Construction of one gutter in the gully formation area upstream of the road; Filling of the 60 cm interior spaces between the strips;
Construction of 40 cm shoulders;

Ti Méprise section 
Construction of 70 ml of hydraulic concrete strips in ramp areas; Construction of 454 ml of rock masonry strips in flat and/or gently sloping areas;  
Construction of 7 gutters in gully formation areas upstream of the road; Filling of 60 cm interior spaces between strips;

Construction of 40 cm shoulders;

Yvane section
Construction of 57 linear meters of concrete strips in ramp areas;
Construction of 20 linear meters of solid concrete in ramp and curve areas;
Filling of 60 cm interior spaces between strips;
Construction of 40 cm shoulders; 

Saint Rival section
Construction of 15 ml of hydraulic concrete strips in ramp areas; Construction of 114 ml of rock masonry strips in flat and/or gentle slope areas;
Construction of 1 gutter in the gully formation area upstream of the road; Filling of 60 cm interior spaces between strips;
Construction of 40 cm shoulders;
